Uttanasana-Standing Forward Fold

I love yoga! And like anything in life, it gifts us the opportunity to practice and grow. We make steps forward, we fall back and yet we are always given the chance to chip away at our journey and clean up our lens. Each phase in the process of this unraveling, brings to light a new perspective. And as our practice deepens, so does our relationship with Self.

Get clear on your intentions, with your health, your dreams/goals or on with anything that lights you up! Accept your vision, without judgement or concern as to how to get there. Honor and acknowledge your hearts deepest longing. Remind yourself that you are worthy of greatness, of healing, of love and of the untapped potential awaiting your call.

If you feel called to practice just one yoga pose today, try Uttanasana! Take mental note or journal how this pose affects you and what it may bring throughout your day.

From a standing posture: Inhale, and sweep your arms up and overhead. Exhale, swan dive down, hinging at the hips and allowing your head/arms to hang, hold onto the back of the calves or rest your hands on some blocks/books.

Uttanasana helps alleviate stomach issues, menstrual discomfort and aides in toning the liver, kidneys and spleen.

Spending two minutes in this pose is generally soothing, but can also help to dissolve depression in the mind.

In times of stress, it can help to slow ones heart rate and usher in a feeling of peace to ones mind and body.
